Motorola Photon 4G has received an unofficial CyanogenMod 10 ROM which brings AKA Jelly Bean to the phone with many features such as Apple’s Siri, smarter keyboard and performance of CyanogenMod as well as customization options.
This ROM work is in progress so many things don’t work properly and there should be bugs and issues present. CM 10 is still under construction so many CyanogenMod customization features don’t work.
This ROM and tutorial is only compatible with Motorola Photon 4G. The procedure below is risky and you should not attend any thing if you don’t understand completely. If any damage occurs we are not responsible.
Procedure to Install Jelly Bean AOKP ROM on Motorola Photon 4G
Step 1- This procedure will wipe all you data so This procedure will wipe all your data so backup all your data such as SMS, contacts, APN settings. SMS with the help of “SMS Backup and Restore app”. Then Backup your contacts by using Sync with Gmail app. To backup your phone logs use “Call log and restore app”. Then take Backup of your APN settings. Go to Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names and note down.
Step 2- Bootloader must be unlocked and ClockworkMod recovery is installed on your phone.
Step 3- Then download the latest Jelly Bean AOKP ROM from official development page.
Step 4- Download Google apps package which include apps like play store, gmail, etc.
Step 5- Then Download Superuser file, which is necessary for root work.
Step 6- Then Download custom recovery that needs to be flashed in order to flash the ROM.
Step 7- Copy all downloaded zip file into memory card of the Photon 4G.
Step 8- Switch off the phone and boot into ClockworkMod recovery by using volume up + volume down + Home together till CWM not appears. Use volume up and volume down key to navigate and power button for selecting.
Step 9- Take a Nandroid Backup of your existing ROM so that you can restore it from recovery if something does not work or you didn’t like anything in the ROM. To take back up, select Backup and Restore. Then select backup again, then after completion of back up go back to main menu.
Step 9-Then select wipe data, after that select yes on the next screen. Wait until the data wipe is complete.
Step 10- Select install Zip from SDcard, then select choose zip from SDcard. Then select that ROM package by scrolling from SD card. Then select Yes for confirm installation, then the ROM will start installing.
Step 11- After installation, go back to main recovery menu and select reboot system now to reboot the Photon 4G and boot up into AOKP. Please be patience first boot will take some time.
Congratulations, Jelly Bean AOKP ROM is now installed on your Photon 4G.
